Querido Hermano Bahá'í:
Su carta del 3 de Oct. ha sido remitida al Amado Guardián por la A.E.N. Americana así como la copia del documento que usted adjuntó.
El Guardián ha dado, en varias ocasiones, breves instrucciones seguras a la A.E.N. acerca del divorcio bahá'í; él no considera que éstas deban ampliarse en la actualidad o extenderse, dado que es prematuro.
Los bahá'ís debe volverse a su Asamblea (primero local y luego Nacional si es necesario) en todas las cuestiones de divorcio. Este es el consejo que él no sólo ha dado a usted y a la Señora Cornell, sino a todos los otros bahá'ís.
Él siente, como él ya ha declarado, que usted y la Señora Cornell deben buscar el consejo de la Asamblea en su caso particular y, como creyentes, cumplirlo. No es posible para él, obviamente, entrar en detalles y arbitrar los casos de los bahá'ís.

Dear Baha'i Brother:
Your letter of Oct. 3 has been forwarded to the beloved Guardian by the American N.S.A. as well as copy of document you enclosed.The Guardian has, at various times, given the N.S.A. certain brief instructions as to Baha'i divorce; he does not consider that these should be amplified at the present time or elaborated, as it is premature.
Baha'is should turn to their Assembly (first local and then National if necessary) in all questions of divorce. This is the advice he not only has given you and Mrs. Cornell, but all other Baha'is.
He feels, as he has already stated, that you and Mrs. Cornell should seek the advice of the Assembly in your particular case and, as believers, abide by it. It is not possible for him, obviously, to go into such details himself and arbitrate the cases of the Baha'is.
He assures you of his prayers.

Su mensaje de correo electrónico del 4 de septiembre de 1999 a la Casa Universal de Justicia acerca de los contenidos del sitio Web... ha sido enviado a nuestra Oficina para responder.
En una de Sus epístolas, 'Abdu'l-Bahá, el hijo de Bahá'u'lláh, escribió que dos fotografías de Bahá'u'lláh fueron tomadas, ambas en Adrianópolis, Turquía, cada una en diferente posición. Hay copias de ambas retratos en el Centro Mundial Bahá'í y uno de ellas se expone en los Archivos Internacionales dónde es vista por los peregrinos bahá'ís. La imagen reproducida en el sitio Web en cuestión parece ser una reproducción pobre de uno de estas fotografías.

Para los bahá'ís, la fotografía de Bahá'u'lláh es muy preciosa y no sólo debe verse sino también manejarse con la debida reverencia y respeto, el cual no es el caso aquí. En consecuencia, esto indudablemente perturba a los Bahá'ís por tener la imagen de Bahá'u'lláh tratada de manera tan irrespetuosa. Sin embargo, como el creador del sitio no es un bahá'í, hay poco, si algo, que puede hacerse para dirigirse esta materia. Nosotros esperamos que estos comentarios hayan sido de ayuda.

Dear Mr. David,

Your email message of 4 September 1999 to the Universal House of Justice concerning the contents of the Web site ... has been referred to our Office for response.
In one of His epistles, Abdu'l-Baha, the son of Baha'u'llah, wrote that two photographs of Baha'u'llah were taken, both in Adrianople, Turkey, each in a different pose. There are copies of both pictures at the Baha'i World Centre and one of these is displayed in the International Archives where it is viewed by Baha'i pilgrims. The image reproduced on the Web site in question seems to be a poor reproduction of one of these photographs.

For Baha'is, the photograph of Baha'u'llah is very precious and it should not only be viewed but also handled with due reverence and respect, which is not the case here. Thus, it is indeed disturbing to Baha'is to have the image of Baha'u'llah treated in such a disrespectful way. However, as the creator of the site is not a Baha'i, there is little, if anything, that can be done to address this matter. We hope these comments have been of assistance.
